Granola, the meeting notetaker app, launched a dictation feature today for Mac users. The tool lets users press the "Fn" key to speak, then cleans up and formats their speech across all apps including email, messages, and note-taking. The feature offers unlimited words for free and will arrive on iOS and Windows soon.

The move reflects broader convergence in the consumer voice AI market. Wispr, known for dictation, launched a meeting notetaker months ago. Other voice startups including Fireflies, Speechify, and Monologue have also built multifeature apps combining meeting notetaking and dictation capabilities.

Granola is valued at $1.5 billion. Wispr is valued at $2 billion and is building its own models through a research lab exploring different human-computer interfaces. Granola focuses on meeting-related automation and notetaking.

Until earlier this year, the category favored focused apps doing one thing well. Now these apps are competing to capture more of users' speech workflows.
