Sergey launched bytemail, a native Mac email client written in Swift that connects directly to mail providers without routing messages through bytemail's servers. The app supports Gmail, iCloud, Outlook, Microsoft 365, Yahoo, Fastmail, and any IMAP server in a single window.
The app includes privacy features that block tracking pixels and strip tracking codes from links. Mail notifications emerge from the MacBook notch, and desktop widgets display unread counts and accounts. Features include snooze, send later, Undo Send, reply reminders, rules, unsubscribe options, and multiple signatures.
bytemail integrates with Claude and other AI tools through a model context protocol that lets them search, draft, and organize mail. On macOS 26, the app offers on-device summaries and reply suggestions. Users can choose between chat-style or classic thread views per account.
Pricing includes a seven-day free trial, monthly and yearly plans, and a lifetime license option. An iPhone app is available in public beta on TestFlight.
One user reported that while bytemail handles most tasks smoothly, interacting with Gmail drafts causes performance issues. The developer Sergey acknowledged user feedback about thread sorting and committed to adding a newest-first option to the roadmap.
