Basedash, a data analytics startup growing at 30% month-over-month ARR since launching last year, released view-only members as a new role for sharing data without granting edit permissions.
The feature allows view-only members to open dashboards, saved charts, automations, and chat history. They can run saved charts, use dashboard filters and drilldowns, and export results. They cannot create or edit anything, run automations, or chat.
Basedash founder stated the company has used an AI agent to optimize product activation and conversion rates. The agent works continuously to make data-driven product decisions rather than relying on intuition.
The view-only role addresses a core friction point. Previously, inviting board members, clients, or sales teams meant granting full seat access, creating risk that accidental changes would alter dashboards. The new role sets a ceiling on permissions.
Teams can assign the view-only role through the invite dialog, member settings, the public API, or an embed sign-in token. Share functionality now works inside full app embeds as well.
